Why Kamala Harris is a picture perfect candidate for the democratic party (and why that’s bad)
(Originally written in 2019)
1. Rootlessness
I did not misspell ruthlessness though that comes later. Kamala is the daughter of two immigrants, her mother from India and her father from Jamaica. Like Barack Obama and Bill Clinton her father left her life early and she was raised by a single mother. The lack of male agency in parenting, and thus directing the future, is a key trait for liberals as it leaves a vacuum for masculine energy and authority that can be filled by government power. Kamala grew up with her mother in Canada until she was 16 before moving to the east coast and finally settling in San Francisco.
Jamaica, India, Canada, America. None of these places, or all of these places, Kamala can call home. This is the lifestyle American capital wants, to be able to shuttle labor around internationally as they have no expectation of resistance. This sets Americans on the path to sterile careerism.
2. No skin in the game
Like most of Western European leaders today Kamala Harris has no children. Ultimately this signals, like in the case of Emmanuel Macron, that she will have little regard for how future generations will be influenced by her decisions. Her derisive response to poor families with truant children exemplifies the kind of compassionless old maid she really is. The pageantry of having a token child or two, as the Clintons did, requires planning and foresight. But Kamala rode the career merry-go-round and climbing the ladder. She married a rich lawyer at 47, right before her first run at the Senate. In the wrestling business this was called “hot-shotting” or putting the belt on a young wrestler in order to get more interest and ratings, to generate more water cooler talk. Obama and Kennedy had been given the same treatment but no one remembers Kampala’s speech from anywhere in particular, she’s just a vaguely exotic career lady with hard to determine ethnicity.
Democratic power brokers are hoping that putting brown faces in high places is a successful strategy , in essence taking the chance that lightning strikes twice as it did with Obama.
3. The velvet glove
Democrats are obsessed with reversing gender roles and the rationale is that with a woman at the top they can appeal to women while enacting authoritarian positions. The media already gives leeway to Silicon Valley overlords to surveil and censor speech, and even participate in doxxing and firing dissidents for wrong-think. I expect that Kamala will be portrayed as looking out for little people even as she does the bidding of bankers and Silicon Valley monopolies.
It is always nice to see lively debates between candidates presenting diverse viewpoints, but as Trump will have no major competitors, the power brokers behind the Democratic party already look to place Kamala Harris at the top of the heap to put the interests of every “future citizen” from the world ahead of actual Americans.
